Rathangan Secondary School Co. Kildare recently began Tag Rugby lessons under the coaching of Edenderry CCRO Mr Patsy Gorman…

The CCRO approached PE teachers Ms Nerney and Mr Rice in late August this year to see if they would be interested in Tag rugby, the reception received was great and between the PE teachers and the CCRO they set about deciding a class schedule. CCRO Gorman began coaching Tag rugby to the students in early September.

Throughout the first school term, transition year students and third year students took part in Tag Rugby program.
From the start it proved a big hit with the students and they enjoyed the all-inclusive nature of the sport, which allowed students from all sporting backgrounds or skill levels to play a part in the games.

In total 81 students have played Tag rugby each week in the school in the first school term.PE teachers Ms Nerney and Mr Rice have been hugely

supportive in achieving this each week and the students themselves have enjoyed their time in this term.
The plan now is to provide Tag Rugby for more classes in the school over the next term with the help of Ms Nerney.
