On Sunday, 28th July Longford RFC will host an Open Family Fun Day, the aim of which is to promote the Club and the game of rugby at, in particular, Minis and Youths level…

It will afford an opportunity for kids and parents who have not previously had exposure to the Club or the game of rugby to see what is involved, the facilities which we have on offer and what we are about.  Kids will be invited and encouraged to engage and participate in the rugby themed activities which are on offer and which will include:

• Tag Rugby
• passing skills
• kick tennis
• place kicking competitions
• target skills
• use of tackle suits, bags and pads
• mock or simulated training sessions and drills.

In other words, kids will be invited on the day to participate in everything we do except for contact training and drills.  All activities will be supervised by the Club coaches and players. The Fun Day is open to all kids eligible to play at Minis or Youths level, boys and girls, and admission is free. The activities will run from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. To keep everyone amused and happy other attractions will include:

• Bouncy castles and slides.
• Face painting.
• BBQ.
• Leo the Lion (Leinster rugby mascot).
• RaboDirect Pro12 and Amlin trophies.
• Much-much more.

For anyone who has had little or no experience of the game of rugby, but might have an interest in participating, please come along.  Kids who are already members of the Club and play at Minis or Youths level are also welcome but we would encourage you to bring along some friends for a day’s fun.
