Eoin Reddan and Jack McGrath spoke to the media yesterday ahead of Leinster’s opening game in the PRO12 against Llanelli Scarlets on Friday (K.O. 7.05pm)in Parc y Scarlets.

Both players discussed training under new head coach Matt O’Connor and, in Reddan’s case, how it feels to be back after a lengthy injury.

Eoin Reddan on training and being injury-free:

“It’s great to be back and to get a run out last Friday (against Northampton). My leg feels good. Everyone’s switched on this week in training. The intensity is going to go up a lot.”

Jack McGrath on preseason:

“Preseason has been very tough. It was disappointing to lose against Northampton but there were plenty of positives to take away.”

Reddan on Matt O’Connor:

“Matt has brought in a lot of new ideas. His knowledge is top class. It’s different to Joe, but the quality is still there.”

McGrath on his development:

“Starting the Amlin Cup final was a great boost, and winning the PRO12. There are good young guys stepping up in this team.”

Reddan on Jimmy Gopperth:

“He’s a good communicator and he’s been very positive. His basic are very good – he’s a great addition.”

McGrath on the opening PRO12 game against Scarlets:

“We’ve got to have our heads in the game on Friday. Scarlets have strengthened over the summer.”
