Coach Development Officer

Derek is now one of four CDO's in Leinster. He returned to Leinster Rugby in January 2007 after a 12-month spell in England and was appointed Regional Development Officer (RDO) covering the Midlands Area.

He previously held the positions of Regional Technical Assistant and Youth Development Officer in Tallaght and then Clontarf before spending three years as an RDO for the Metropolitan Area.

For the last year, the 31-year-old was the Rugby Development Officer for the county of Northamptonshire employed by the Rugby Football Union (RFU) and his tasks involved managing the Community Coach Programme and working with clubs to help them achieve 'Sport England' accreditation.

While away, he completed the RFU Level 2 Coaching certificate and qualified as an RFU tutor to deliver coaching courses.
