What is the Leinster School of Excellence on Tour?

Leinster School of Excellence on Tour is designed for players aged between 10-16 years old who want to learn to play rugby the Leinster Way. Players who participate in the camps will develop their skills, obtain a greater understanding of game awareness and learn about rugby values such as team work, commitment, integrity and communication. Other skills that emphasis will be placed on include; passing, evasion, kicking, tackling (in a controlled environment) and contact will be introduced depending on the age and ability of the group. Camp goers will also gain a greater understanding of the importance of physical fitness and get the chance to make loads of new friends.

We've asked for your feedback and this year as an addition to content, there will be a nutritional talk on how best to eat to be healthy while playing sports. This will be both general and also around match time and hydration. Secondly, we will be giving increased education around strength and conditioning, and what is appropriate for young players at stage one (6-12) and stage two (13+).

In addition to the programmes this year there is a girl's only School of Excellence on Tour that will run in Cill Dara RFC. Players who attend the Leinster School of Excellence on Tour will be coached by Leinster Rugby staff that all have a vast amount of experience in providing top quality coaching to these young teens. To facilitate the appropriate attention given to each participant during the three days, camp goers will be split into groups of 15 depending on their age. Participants will receive a Leinster Rugby Canterbury of New Zealand contact top.

All Camp Managers are fully accredited IRFU coaches and have additionally completed IRFU Safe Rugby Level 1 and the IRB First Aid in Rugby.

What do we offer?

  • Coaching from Leinster's top qualified coaches 28/29/30th October from 10am-2pm daily.
  • Canterbury of New Zealand contact top.
  • Nutritional talk and high emphasis on individual skill development.
  • A safe, enjoyable and focused environment for your child to develop their skills.
