Former Castleknock College player Martin Moore has earned glowing praise from his coaches at Leinster and is targeting his first starts in the coming campaign with the Blues having made several appearances off the bench.

The prop, who featured at the opening match at the revamped Lansdowne Road in 2010, has represented Leinster and Ireland up through the age grades.

He made six outings with Ireland Under-20 and was a key part in the squad that competed in the 2011 Six Nations. Team-mates in that squad included Tiernan O’Halloran, Jordi Murphy and JJ Hanrahan.

Moore made his Leinster debut in a runaway 54-13 victory over Edinburgh at the RDS. The young tight-head had turned 21 a month previous and replaced Nathan White in the closing stages.

Further chances arose with the senior squad last season, as well as regular outings in the front row for Leinster A in inter-pro and British & Irish Cup clashes.

Moore came off the Blues’ bench in their league openers against Scarlets and Newport Dragons before appearing against the Ospreys and away against Glasgow on a torrential night at Scotstoun as Leinster ground out a 6-0 win.

A clear sign of the high regard Moore is held in came in June when he was selected for the Emerging Ireland squad that finished runners-up at the Tbilisi Cup in Georgia.
