It was a festival of rugby as over 31 clubs, 100 teams and 1,500 players took part in the annual Seapoint RC Blitz on Sunday.

The largest event of its kind in Ireland and running for over 22 years, the event attracted teams from all over the country for a day of rucking, passing and tackling.

Boys and girls from U10, U11, and U12 played in a series of matches against teams from all four provinces. Leinster Rugby players James Ryan and Rory O’Loughlin came along to lend their support.

Commenting on the day, Seapoint RC President Gerry Owens, said: “We are thrilled to welcome these young rugby players to Seapoint RC and to once again host this fantastic event which is always a very special occasion in the calendar of our club.”

An organising committee of over 120 volunteers scheduled the matches, coordinated the day and arranged an array of family fun activities in the grounds, including a live DJ, barbecue and face-painting.
