The draw for the 101st Bank of Ireland Metropolitan Cup was conducted in Bective Rangers Football Club yesterday evening with Leinster Branch Senior Vice President Billy Murphy presiding over proceedings, with the help of  Junior Vice President Declan Gardiner and Chair of the rugby committee Karl O’Neill.

The cup draw was attended by representatives from the 14 participating teams in this years competition, with the Metropolitan Cup set to kick off on Sunday, 12 February. The final will take place on Friday, 21 April in Energia Park.

The first two teams drawn from the bowl received byes through to the second round, leaving six first round ties with the first team drawn enjoying home advantage.  Last years cup winners Terenure College received a bye into the second round, along with St Mary’s College RFC.
