Read these eight quotes from Jack Conan after his man of the match performance against Ospreys on Saturday.
On the win over Ospreys…
“You always want to go out to score tries, but at the end of the day it’s all about a performance and getting the win so we went out and we performed as a unit, as a team. The fact we didn’t get over the try line, it’s not a bad thing, we’ve left with the points so we’re happy with that.”
“I think for us we knew what our role was, we knew what our jobs were, we stuck to the task and we knew we’d be ok. We did and we came away with a win so we’re happy.”
On the defensive performance…
“I think we let ourselves down slightly last week (v Treviso) and let in a few soft scores, so I think defensively we were much more solid today. We had some hits going in. They didn’t make a whole lot of line breaks, one was called back for a forward pass. On defence I think we were much sharper today.”
On building momentum…
“I think we redeemed ourselves slightly after last week’s poor performance. Today was something to really build on going into two really tough games in Twickenham and then the Aviva. We’re building a bit of momentum now and hopefully we’ll go well in the following weeks.”
On his extended run in the team…
“It’s been a good opportunity for the last few weeks to put my hand up and show that I can play at this level. If Matt chooses to pick me next week I’ll bring my ‘A’ game and I’ll play as hard and as well as I can.”
“I’ve enjoyed every second of it. I suppose when you get your hand on the jersey you don’t want to let it go and you want to play as well as you can to show that you;re ready for it. I’m happy enough with how I’m doing so far.”
On facing Harlequins…
“It is a tough place and they were unlucky last night against Bath, so they’ll be looking for a win. It’s great to have a few lads coming back into the fold next week – Jamie (Heaslip) and the likes. So we’ll build on today’s performance and go well. I’m sure it’ll be a tough game.”
“This is our most important block coming up to Christmas; some really tough matches. There’s the two European games, then we’ve got Connacht, Munster afterwards. Some really season defining moments for us.”
