The rise of Manu Samoa through the past two years has been eye catching. Crowned Pacific Nations Champion in June 2012, success against 6 Nations champions Wales at Millennium Stadium last November, the first ever victory over Scotland and a comprehensive win over Italy in the South Africa, castle lager series this June has established Manu Samoa as a genuine contender moving into the 2015 Rugby World Rugby.

The improvement in IRB world rankings from 11th in 2011 to currently 7th in 2013 coincided has with the appointment of a new management team comprising of Head Coach Stephen Betham, Manager Sami Leota, Assistant coaches Darryl Suasua and Greg Smith.

Hugh Galvan Manu Samoa is well known for its physicality, power, size and flair. The Manu first sprung to prominence at the 1991 Rugby World Cup with a famous and well documented win against Wales on Cardiff Arms Park and has since been characterised by a number of one off notable victories.

However change abounds and Manu Samoa now pose a constant and legitimate threat.
Consistency and structure can now be added to the other attributes that characterise Manu Samoa. The new management are all graduates of the IRB coach education program. They match expertise in coaching methodology and coaching process with the culture that is unique to Samoa.

This mix is proving to be a recipe for significant success.
