Seven eager clubs; Ashbourne, Ratoath, Balbriggan, Virginia, Boyne, Ardee and Dundalk arrived in anticipation of a great day’s action and that is exactly what they got.
Played in perfect conditions on the excellent pitches in Milltown, the action was fiercely contested but played in a superb spirit. All teams played three matches, each lasting 20 minutes, and afterwards were rewarded with sandwiches, snacks and refreshments supplied by the host club.
A very successful and fun day was had by all in what was a well organised event by Ashbourne’s mini-co-ordinator Rory Mc Govern and his team of volunteers. There’s no doubt that some ‘budding young stars of the future’ for Leinster or even Ireland may well have graced the fields of Ashbourne.
