A tag rugby blitz took place last week consisting of 4th class pupils from local Ballymun primary schools….

The schools involved were Holy Spirit Boys National School, St. Joseph’s National School, Our Lady of Victories Boys and Girls Schools and N.D.N.S.P.

Pupils were prepared for the blitz by Club Community Rugby Officer Michael Murray for the past eight weeks and the schools, teachers and pupils showed great commitment over the winter months to ensure this blitz could go ahead. Jack Frost himself could not stop the progress everyone had made to take part in this blitz!

With approximately 200 children participating, a combined effort from coaches, teachers and volunteers made it a great day for Ballymun’s community. This is the 2nd blitz that has taken part in the previous few months and interest continues to grow. It is hoped that pupils from the area will continue to carry on playing within the community and for local club side, Unidare RFC.

Special thank you to Haribo who provided treats for all the children and teachers on the day, Ballymun Regeneration, volunteers from Unidare RFC, Trinity Comprehensive School and Metroplex for their continued support to rugby in Ballymun.
