Thirty participants from eight schools and three community organisations from Ballymun and surrounding areas recently took part in a Community Tag Rugby Training Workshop delivered between Leinster Rugby and Ballymun Regeneration Limited…

The primary and secondary schools involved were: Our Lady of Victories Boys School, Our Lady of Victories Girls School, Virgin Mary Girls School, North Dublin National School Project (N.D.N.S.P.), St Brigid’s Infant School, Finglas, St. Josephs National School, Coolock, St. Michaels House and Trinity Comprehensive School, Ballymun.

The community groups participating were Ballymun Regeneration Limited, Unidare RFC and Poppintree Community Sport Complex.

In beautiful conditions, CRO Jack Hanratty and CCRO to Ballymun, Michael Murray, hosted this event to enthusiastic teachers, youth workers and pupils in Trinity Comprehensive School, Ballymun.

Everyone involved were put through their paces from the start and didn’t hold back in what proved to be a successful and highly competitive day! Participants were introduced to the practical processes of coaching Tag Rugby to allow them to pass the knowledge onto the children they work closely with.

Many different ideas and approaches were shared among the group ensuring they came away from the training day with a broad range of ideas to use.
