The official launch of the Bank of Ireland Treble Trophy Tour took place in Newbridge PPS on Thursday. Last year’s Heineken Cup tour, also sponsored by Bank of Ireland, was a huge success as it visited 516 schools all around the province, meaning over 115,000 students got to see the cup…
This year, the tour takes on a new dimension with three separate trophies on show for the children around the province to get their hands on. These are namely the RaboDirect PRO12 trophy, the Amlin Challenge Cup and the British & Irish Cup.
All the students in Newbridge PPS got to hold the three trophies and asked Leinster Academy player and former student of Newbridge College, James Tracy various questions about the game and how to progress up the Leinster ranks. Leo the Lion also popped in to get into a few pictures with some giddy teachers.
Leinster Rugby’s local CCRO, Ben Swindlehurst was in attendance along with Athy’s Joe Carberry, Naas’s Gerry Costello and Cill Dara’s Miles Medicott who all passed on their rugby knowledge and got some rugby drills going on the day.
The Bank of Ireland Treble Trophy Tour is kicking off in Dublin in October and will continue on a provincial wide tour that will span over the course of the school year.
