Just before the Christmas break, Boyne RFC in conjunction with the Des Smyth Foundation held a Tag Rugby Blitz for 6th class pupils of the Local Primary Schools. There were eight Primary Schools represented on the day…
In attendance were, St. Paul’s N.S, Congress Avenue N.S, Duleek GNS, Laytown N.S, Whitecross N.S, Donacarny N.S, Callystown N.S and Termonfeckin N.S. All Schools were represented by both boys and girls teams.
There were 240 children in attendance on the day, it was a cold day but thanks to the Funding from the Des Smyth Foundation the Blitz could be held on the Astro Turf Pitches of The Drogheda Leisure Park.
Thanks to the help from the Teachers who accompanied the children a great day was had. CCRO James Fay received some great help from Craig McGrath, Eoghan Duffy and Teacher Brian Curry from St. Paul’s who Refereed on the Day.
Every child received some Leinster Rugby goodies at the end of the day and went home happy. Hopefully the day will convince some of the children to come and join Boyne RFC.
