On Saturday, May 14th Castleknock College in association with the Vincentian Lay Missions (VLM) will host a Charity Tag Rugby and Athletics Event in the College grounds in Castleknock…

The VLM are an organisation committed to working with and supporting some of the poorest people in Ethiopia & Nigeria.

This work is done through our hosts and mentors the Daughters of Charity, the Vincentian Fathers and through dedicated, dynamic and professional and skilled volunteers, at home and abroad. Castleknock College participates in the Vincentian Immersion Project in Ambo, a city about 60 miles south of Addis Abbaba, each year. This year 3 teachers and 6 students will travel to Ambo to further the educational and charity work of the VLM and the College.

The family fun event begins at 10.30am with a Tag Rugby Tournament. There are still places available for teams. If you are interested in participating but have been unable to create a team still contact the relevant e-mail address and every effort will be made to create a new team.

At 2pm the Athletics events will begin with a 4 x 1 mile Inter-school Invitational with participating schools from all over the country. Also in the events are a Tug-of-war competition between local arch rivals Castleknock College and Belvedere College. There will be also Teachers/ Parents 440m race. All interested participants should contact Kieran Gallagher at the College.

With Novelty events, face painting and a rally car display, the day should prove to be a fun family day out for all.
