Champions Cup fixtures announced

Leinster’s fixtures in Pool 2 of the inaugural European Rugby Champions Cup have been announced by EPC Rugby, with the first game taking place against London Wasps in the RDS.

The Round 1 tie against Wasps will take place on Sunday, 19 October, at 5.15pm. The return fixture against Wasps will take place in Round 6 on the weekend beginning 23 January.

In Round 2, Leinster will travel to face Castres Olympique in Stade Pierre-Antoine on Sunday, 26 October (KO 2pm).

Leinster defeated Castres home and away in last season’s Heineken Cup, with the away victory in the south of France playing acrucial role in leinster’s progression from the Pool. Leinster trailed 17-12 at half-time but two tries from Jimmy Gopperth, one from Jordi Murphy and a stunning Rob Kearney drop-goal meant that the game ended 29-22 in favour of Matt O’Connor’s men.

The home tie against Castres will take place on the weekend beginning 16 January, in Round 5 of the Pool stage.

In Rounds 3 and 4, Leinster will face back-to-back fixtures against Harlequins on the weekends beginning 5 December and 12 December, respectively. The away match will take place on the first weekend in December, with Harlequins making the trip to Dublin the following weekend to face Leinster in the Aviva Stadium.
