From the start of this season all age grade rugby for Club Mini and Youths will be played on the 1st January…

Players can play in two age categories in one season – his own and 1 year up (eg an Under-15 player can play for Under-15’s and Under-16’s only) parental/guardian permission must be obtained prior to the player playing in the older category. 

Mini Rugby players are not allowed to move up to Under-13 (15-a-side-rugby) without agreement of the parent / guardian and the branch youth committee. 

A player is allowed to play adult rugby only after his 18th birthday.

Mini & Leprechaun Rugby (Under-7 to Under-12):

From the start of the 2009/10 season all competitions (leagues/ cups and blitzes ending with play off matches) are not allowed and fixtures must be arranged according to the National Blitz Day format. All events must also be registered with the respective Branch prior to taking place and extra time in matches/ events is not allowed at this level. All fixtures and events, including matches involving teams from other Unions, must adhere to the to the I.R.F.U Mini Rugby regulations

All Ireland Competitions:

The current All Ireland Under-16 and Under-18 Competitions will be replaced by an All Ireland Under-17 and Under-19 Club Competitions. Eligibility and regulations for all competitions will be confirmed prior to the start of the season.
