As part of Leinster Rugby’s collaboration with St Mary’s University, we are delighted to offer a live webinar on the Practical Solutions to Applying a Tactical Periodisation approach within Rugby. The live webinar will take place via Zoom on Thursday, 21 May at 7pm.
The tactical periodisation model has been widely used in soccer as a holistic performance model that allows for the technical, tactical, physical and psychological to be trained within the same coaching session. More recently, high profile rugby coaches have stated that they have begun to use the model and approach within their rugby coaching. The webinar will aim to provide an insight into the application of the model within a club or school setting. In addition, the panel will discuss how the tactical periodisation approach could provide some possible solutions with real game and coaching examples to overcome the on-pitch coaching challenges that we face.
The panel will consist of, Mike Ashford (Rugby Coach and PhD Student from Leeds Beckett) co-author of Tactical Periodisation in Rugby, Brett Igoe (Senior Lecturer at Carlow IT and Leinster U18 Assistant Coach), and Michael Ayres (Senior Lecturer – St Mary’s University, Chelsea FC Academy and Leinster Rugby)
The live webinar is open to all but with a specific emphasis on those coaches who hold the IRFU senior or performance coach awards (Old Stage 3 and 4 awards).
