Leo Cullen has provided an injury update ahead of the game against Benetton Treviso in the RDS Arena.
Leinster face Treviso in the RDS Arena on Saturday (KO 3pm) with a home semi-final in the Guinness PRO12 up for grabs.
The team that will line out in the game has been announced, with Ian Madigan, Josh van der Flier and Luke Fitzgerald, who all featured in the defeat to Ulster, omitted through injury.
“Josh van der Flier had to go off the last day [against Ulster],” Cullen told the media after the captain’s run in the RDS.
“He’s done a bit of damage to his syndesmosis in his ankle, so he will get assessed early next week and we’ll have a further update then. Luke Fitzgerald twigged his medial ligament just at the very end of the game. Ian Madigan, in training this week, had a slight twinge in his hamstring, so that’s ruled him out for this week.”
Speaking further on Fitzgerald’s injury, Cullen said: “It’s nothing major, so hopefully he will be available for our next game, whenever that may be.”
There was also an update on some of the long-term absentees, with Cullen saying that Sean O’Brien has suffered a setback in his rehab.
“Seanie had that high hamstring tear, which can be complicated. It’s slower than we would’ve liked. We’ll get him further assessed and we’ll have an update next week.
“Jack Conan, who has been out for a number of weeks, is making good steady progress. Cian Healy is a very unique individual, a great competitor. He’s probably been managing himself even though he’s been carrying a few niggles over the last recent while. We’re just trying to manage him as best as possible and do what’s best for him.”
