Over 100 secondary schoolgirls recently took to the field for their first ever Tag rugby blitz…

DCU was the venue with the DCU Women’s rugby team the organisers on a lovely sunny day that was also supported by Powerade, the DCU Access service and the 98FM Thunders.

The girls had a taster of the game with training sessions that were conducted by DCU Women’s Rugby and Leinster Rugby CRO Jack Hanratty who commented: “It is one thing going to a school conducting a programme but this gives the players not only an opportunity to get taught by current Womens rugby players but also the chance to visit one of Ireland’s universities.”

The DCU Womens team are hoping that this will be the start of the interest for the girls and hopefully one day play for the University team.
