The 11th annual game between AIB and De la Salle Palmerston for this much coveted trophy, in memory of a very fine player, friend and character of rugby, Brendan Brophy, who had contributed a huge amount to both clubs was played recently…

The concept of this game was initially instigated by the many friends that Brendan had in both clubs and over the years, both Tom Magnier and Stan Bolton (amongst many), have been instrumental in ensuring this game stayed as a permanent date on the fixture list for both clubs.

Once again a very large crowd turned up for this year’s fixture, a true reflection of how highly regarded Brendan Brophy was by his many friends in Rugby.

On the day DLSP sneaked it with a stronger finish, 20-10, after AIB had a very good start with two good tries. This led to DLSP collecting the trophy for the 6th time (AIB have won it the other 5 times).
