On January 26th Edenderry RFC CCRO Patsy Gorman held a schools tag rugby blitz in Edenderry, with over 70 children taking part ranging from 3rd class primary to 6th class primary school age groups…

It was a very successful day with teams from St Ciarans N.S. Castlejordan, St Oliver Plunkett N.S. Killina, Clocha Rince Primary school, St Bridgets N.S. Ticknevin and St Conleths N.S. Derrinturn taking part.

There were some great rugby skills displayed on the day, with two separate age group competitions running at the same time. The older age group winners were St Oliver Plunketts N.S. Killina with Clocha Rince Primary School finishing runner up. The younger age group winners were St Bridgets N.S. Ticknevin and the runners up were St Ciarans N.S. Castlejordan.

There were some awards given on the day to outstanding players. These players were Tommy O’Donovan, Clocha Rince, Justin Reilly, St Oliver Plunketts, Leanne Mallon, St Bridgets and Luke McNamee from St Ciaran’s.

The day was well supported by parents and teachers and a special mention of thanks to David Smullen and Grainne Vaugh from Edenderry RFC for refereeing on the day.
