The place to be this year if you love youth rugby is Terenure College RFC when it hosts its third Terenure 13s: European Youth Rugby Festival. The festival, exclusively for those aged 13 and under takes place over the May Bank Holiday weekend, 2nd to 5th May 2014 at Terenure’s Lakelands Park. If the standards on show at last year’s event are anything to go by, we are in for a treat in 2014, with youth rugby never stronger in this country.
This international festival is quite unique in Europe and aims to be the biggest and the best youth rugby festival, featuring teams from across the continent being pitted against one another in both a league and knock-out format on full sized pitches, with fully qualified IRFU referees and maximum game time. The festival gives our under 13s the chance to develop lasting friendships with teams from Ireland and all over Europe.
Last year’s event was heralded as a massive success – an excellent example of good planning and solid execution, featuring a well-managed timetable, ample pitch stewards and attention to every aspect of safety and all of that in glorious sunshine! Our visiting teams cannot wait to come back again this year as 2014 is expected to deliver even more!
The busy weekend of rugby is supported by an equally packed full weekend of music, food, entertainment and craic – all in all, an event for young and old, and one not to be missed.
