FreeSports To Broadcast Eight Schools Senior Cup Games in 2019

The Bank of Ireland Leinster Rugby Schools Senior Cup has a new home in Ireland with games starting this month televised live on FreeSports, Sky channel 429.
The first of eight games to be televised by the new station takes place on January 31st as Belvedere College face Cistercian College, Roscrea in Energia Park.
The premier rugby competition for secondary schools in Leinster is 132 years old, first beginning in 1887 and for the first time, FreeSports will broadcast eight games in the 2019 campaign.
This will include all four quarter-finals, both semi-finals and the final live on the free to air channel.
FreeSports owner Michael O’Rourke continues his long standing relationship with the Leinster Rugby Schools Senior Cup having previously broadcast the competition on Setanta Sports Ireland.
The first live broadcast on January 31st will feature last year’s defeated finalists, and 12 time Senior Cup champions Belvedere College who will take on 2015 winners Cistercian College, Roscrea.
The game will take place in Energia Park on Thursday 31st January at 3pm.
FreeSports officially launched in Ireland on Sky channel 429 this week having been inundated with requests from Irish sports fans wanting access to the channel. The free-to-air channel started broadcasting in the UK just under 18 months ago and is the fastest growing sports channel in the UK given its access to 22 million homes coupled with being the only dedicated free sports channel in the UK.
Ireland’s newest channel is operated by the team behind Premier Sports, a subscription based channel in the UK that cover all 152 games of the Guinness PRO14, the Scottish Cup, 500 games from the NHL, GAA National League and Championships on top of being the home to the NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series
Coupled with the Bank of Ireland Leinster Rugby Schools Senior Cup, Irish viewers can expect live football from the Portuguese Liga NOS, Ice Hockey from around the globe, Formula E and action from the World Handball Championship, all live on FreeSports this month.
