The second of this season’s ‘Friday Night Friendly’ events will take place in Naas RFC tonight.

Designed to keep female players in the game, this programme has become increasingly popular over the last season.

Originally organised to take place on a monthly basis – there were six matches last year with 30 players from across five clubs – the first event held last month saw a big jump in numbers with 53 players from seven clubs taking part.

Those in attendance vary between players that are not getting enough game time in their clubs, some are new to the game and are looking to play rugby, and some are not able to commit to a league team on a regular basis.

Whatever the reason, all are welcome to come and ‘top up their rugby’ whether as an individual or small group from a rugby club.

The different players, aged 18 years and older, are mixed into different groups for the games with the aim of social enjoyment rather than fierce competition.

Refreshments are kindly provided afterwards courtesy of Naas RFC.
