Leinster Rugby were sad to hear of the recent passing last weekend of former Leinster and Ireland great Gerry Culliton…

Gerry started playing rugby in Cistercian College, Roscrea in the late 1940s. He then joined Tullamore RFC before heading to Dublin to play with Wanderers in 1956 where he played for 17 seasons.

He made his international debut against England in Lansdowne Road in 1959 and subsequently won 19 caps.

He also played with the Barbarians team that beat the all conquering Springboks in 1964. Having retired from international rugby he ended his rugby playing career with Portlaoise RFC.

Our thoughts are with his friends and family at this sad time.
