The annual Gorey RFC South East 7s Festival takes place on Saturday, 10th August…
This will include men’s and women’s teams fighting it out across 3 competitions throughout the day with the men’s elite final bringing the event to a close.
This tournament is designed for all players – from those looking for the craic to be had from a great rugby day, on and off the field, to the elite players seeking a big win. It will be divided into 3 sections with the Men’s Elite, Men’s Social and Women’s competitions. Kindly sponsored by Kehoe Brothers Machinery Ltd, McGoverns Pub & Tara Meadows Holiday Park the tournament has a prize fund of €;3,000 and has already attracted entries from club sides far & near.
A great addition to the event this year is that the Finals of the Gorey RFC Tag Rugby Tournament will take place following the 7s Men Elite Final so the rugby action will be non-stop.
Off the rugby field there will be plenty of entertainment also with a tug of war competition, a prize for the most sociable team, individual prizes for the men’s elite, social and women’s player of the day as well as music all night, fancy dress disco, a late bar with all day bar specials, a BBQ, free camping and a Pig on A Spit.
This promises to be a great day and night. Places are filling up quickly but there still are a limited number of places available across all competitions but book early.
