Gorey RFC is a community-based rugby club in the town of Gorey in north Wexford, approximately one hour from Dublin.
The club fields teams at every age group from U-6 to U-18.5 and currently two Senior men’s teams. In 2020/21, Gorey had approximately 45 players playing at either J1 or J2 level who started rugby with the club at either Youth or Mini level.
The club has two playing pitches and a large training area, new dressing rooms and a fully-equipped rugby gym.
The Senior men’s team currently competes in Division 1A of the Leinster League, as well as in the Provincial Towns Cup and the South-East Area Competition.
About the role:
- Develop and implement the training programme for all players on the First and Second men’s team squads
- Supervise all training sessions for the Senior men’s teams
- Ultimate responsibility for selection of the Firsts, Seconds and U-20 teams
- Attendance at all Senior men’s team fixtures
- Have a supervisory role in the coaching and development of the Youths section
- Select a dedicated coaching team with a similar rugby vision and lead them with the implementation of this vision to all Gorey teams. With this in mind, it will be necessary to liaise with all the youth coaches from time to time to ensure that a common rugby ethos is prevalent throughout the club
Desired Experience
- Stage 3 IRFU Senior Coaching Award
- Experience developing players
- Knowledge of Junior rugby and local rugby landscape
