Jamie Heaslip is one of 12 nominees for the RTÉ Sport Awards 2016 Sportsperson of the Year after an outstanding year on the international stage with Ireland, including the historic victories against South Africa, New Zealand and Australia this year.

Heaslip has featured for Leinster 14 times so far this calendar year (playing 920 minutes) and is one of just five players to have made over 200 appearances for the province.

The nomination comes on the back of Heaslip winning the World Rugby Try of the Year award last month, as well as being nominated for the World Rugby Men’s Player of the Year award.
