Speaking ahead of his debut, Leinster number eight Jamie Heaslip said that aggression will be key for the Lions when they face the Springboks in Saturday’s First Test…

“We have to be aggressive at the breakdown in both attack and defence and hopefully come out on top. There are some grey areas at the breakdown with the new laws with the tackler being given a lot more leeway.

“I want to do the jersey proud and I think we’ve got a good chance of winning.

“It’s been a great year for me so far with the Irish Grand Slam and Leinster winning the Heineken Cup and so winning the Test series would be a great way to round things off.”

*Meanwhile, Munster and Ireland prop John Hayes has been drafted into the Lions squad in place of the injured Euan Murray (Scotland) who damaged his ankle early on during Tuesday’s 20-8 tour win over the Southern Kings.
