The Heineken Cup was in the hands of Boyne RFC recently and it visited local Primary Schools St. Paul’s, Congress Avenue, Callystown, Termonfeckin, Laytown and Whitecross in Julionstown…
There was great excitement with plenty of Leinster, Ireland and Boyne jerseys on display.
All boys and Girls from ages 6-11, as well as the teachers, were given an opportunity to be pictured with the trophy. The Cup also visited Secondary School St. Joseph’s where the Junior team had their photo taken with it.
On Saturday morning all of the minis from Boyne RFC from ages 6-12 got their team photos taken with the trophy, which went down very well with coaches and players alike. It was then onto Shamrock Lodge where Boyne were making history by playing their first ever home game in the Ulster Bank AIL against the Connemara All Blacks.
Also Boyne Under-15’s played a side from Luxembourg who got a shot with the Trophy. The trophy was also present at the pre-match dinner. Overall it was a great experience to have it in the club and the hope is that it will encourage young boys and girls to get involved in Rugby at their local club Boyne RFC.
