Coolmine Rugby Club and Castleknock College hosted a Festival of Rugby last weekend in the college grounds…

This inaugural event was a great success with over 120 players taking part. A coaching session run by senior players from the college took place before the blitz itself.

Participants ranged from 10 to 13 years of age and each team got to play at least 5 matches each.

This is one of a series of events being run through the season to encourage young people to play rugby and to strengthen the relationship between the college and the club.

It is hoped to make this an annual event along with the already established ‘Eddie Melvin Perpetual Trophy’, a challenge tie between Castleknock’s senior cup team and a Coolmine selection, which normally takes place every January.
