The Interprovincial Championship is off to a mixed start.
The combined Leinster U20 and development squad started their campaign strong with a 46-20 win over Ulster at Shaw’s Bridge last Friday. Tries from Jack Power, Jordan Larmour 2 tries each; Jimmy O’Brien, Will Connors, Barry Fitzpatrick try each; Conor Dean 3 cons; Ciaran Fralwey pen, con saw a real team effort defeat the Northern side. Team Manager Will Sparks added ‘“I just felt that we were really cohesive, that we were very sharp and our fitness was excellent”.
The Leinster U18 Schools also defeated Ulster with a try from Belvedere College’s Sam Barry and St. Mary’s College Richie Bergin. Jeff Carter’s squad having one win and one loss under their belt go into the third round of the campaign against Munster this Sunday at Thomond Park.
The Leinster U19’s Head Coach Morgan Lennon reflected on their narrow loss to Ulster last Saturday “We lost a game we should have drawn“. The squad now faces Connacht in the second round in Galwegians tomorrow at 3pm.
The Leinster U18 Clubs were undone by Connacht three tries-to-two in the Inter-provincial Championship at Donnybrook on last Saturday afternoon. Final score 25-16.
