Robin McBryde sat down for an exclusive interview with Leinster Rugby TV this week, his first as the province’s new assistant coach.

The former Llanelli and later Scarlets hooker, who played over 250 games for his region, discussed the decision to join Leinster Rugby, his initial impressions, and the upcoming Heineken Champions Cup meeting with Benetton Rugby on Saturday.

“First of all, I was flattered to be given the opportunity to come here,” McBryde told Leinster Rugby TV.

“I just grabbed that opportunity with both hands. Initial impressions, I’ve had a fantastic welcome and some messages ahead of arriving here.

“I’ve been in touch with a couple of players as well just to get a feel of the place.

“We’re only two days in so I’m still finding my feet but the players have been outstanding, the coaches as well made me feel very at home so I’m looking forward to getting stuck in.

“I think it’s a great opportunity for myself – to learn, to develop. I’m just really looking forward to seeing what we can achieve together.”
