Leinster and Ireland trio Cian Healy, Rob Kearney and Kevin McLaughlin were on hand at the launch in Donnybrook of the IRFU ‘Your Club, Your Country’ fundraising initiative aimed at Rugby Clubs throughout Ireland who are in line to raise over ?1 million for the community game…
‘Your Club, Your Country’ is a draw that was first launched last year and raised over €;600,000 in total for participating clubs. Clubs taking part this season will be issued with 1,000 tickets valued at €;10 each which means each can raise up to €;10,000 for their club.
The clubs will retain 100% of their ticket sales from the draw, which offers an array of fabulous prizes that have been provided by the IRFU and its partners. To date over 117 clubs are registered to take part which means over €;1.17 million worth of tickets have been issued to those clubs to sell to their members and local community.
Pat Fitzgerald, Commercial and Marketing Chairman of the IRFU said: “Last year’s draw was a huge success. The response was magnificent in reaching over €;600,000 and the interest from the clubs this year has been even greater. The IRFU is committed to doing whatever it can to assist our clubs in what are difficult economic times and this draw is the perfect opportunity to do that. Yet again there is an outstanding list of prizes thanks to the IRFU’s family of commercial partners and we are confident that the hard work of the clubs will be rewarded by hitting that magic mark of €;1 million.”
The closing date for entries is 5.00pm on Friday, November 2nd, and the draw will take place on Friday, November 9th, the day before Ireland take on South Africa in the opening game of the Guinness Series.
