The Carlow Institute have competed in three Irish Colleges Rugby finals this year, winning the Division 2 final last Wednesday in IT Carlow.
They started this final at a ferocious pace with their first try scored by fullback Tom Mc Donagh within the first five minutes.
This was followed by tries by Martin O’Neill (20 mins), Peter Toal (55mins), before Maynooth replied with a try scored by Conor Phelan, converted by Darragh O’Neill in the 58 minute.
Outhalf Matt Dempsey converted two tries and a penalty for IT Carlow who then completed their afternoon’s work with additional tries by Alan Kenny (65min) and Kieran O’Rourke (75min).
