John Walsh (Naas RFC) succeeded Robert Deacon as President at the Leinster Branch AGM, which was held online last Thursday.

Walsh follows in, fellow clubman, PJ Power’s footsteps. Power became the first Leinster Branch President from a Junior Club in the 1938/39 season.

Walsh will be the 101st President of the Leinster Branch.

Walsh has been a member of Naas RFC since he played at Under-17 to J1 and J3 level and was on many club committees, including holding the role of Club President for two seasons.

He has been involved with the Leinster Branch since 2000, when he was appointed the Naas RFC Representative on the Leinster Executive Committee.

Next season, will see the first female President of the Leinster Branch, when Debbie Carty (South East Area) becomes the 102nd President.

Carty is a long-time member of Wexford Wanderers RFC and has been on both the Women’s and PRO committees, along with being a representative of the South East Area.
