Leinster’s Zane Kirchner has been named as the starting full-back for the Springboks in their opening Rugby World Cup pool match against Japan.

The Pool B match will mark Kirchner’s 31st appearance for his country and his debut at a Rugby World Cup.

There are 880 Test caps in the Springboks XV for the match, making it the most experienced South Africa side ever.

South Africa face Japan in Brighton Community Stadium this Saturday (KO 4.45pm).
