The Leinster ‘A’ team continued their fine start to the British & Irish Cup when they defeated Llanelli 19-13 in Sunday afternoon’s clash in Parc y Scarlets…

The game was played in torrential conditions in Llanelli and the visitors did well to recover and regroup from a 7-0 deficit early on when centre Jonny Lewis touched down, with Jordan Williams converting after 16 minutes.

A brace of Noel Reid penalties on 18 and 27 minutes reduced the lead to a solitary point into the interval. However a minute after the re-start Leinster were on the back foot once more as Williams slotted home a penalty.

Reid kicked his third successful penalty on 46 minutes before the impressive Leo Auva’a continued his fine recent run of form with a 51st minute try, with Reid adding the extras.

Reid added another penalty on the hour mark to push Leinster into a nine point lead and despite Williams clawing back three points with another penalty six minutes later, Leinster held on to seal a deserved win n a fine day all round for the province.

*Leinster ‘A’ will face London Welsh in Donnybrook next Sunday in Round 4 of the B&I Cup (KO: 2.30pm).
