The Leinster Branch is introducing an Electronic Game Management (EGM) system for next season, 2011-12, to help improve the management of competitions within the domestic game…

The EGM has been developed by Sportsmanager, the company that developed and maintains the Fixtures, Results and Tables section on the Leinster Rugby website. The EGM has been piloted for the past two months in a small number of clubs and the Competitions Committee is satisfied that it is now ready to be introduced throughout the province for all competitions at adult level.

Each club will have a user (or a number of users) who will have access to the EGM. The user will be able to access team sheets for all the club’s fixtures. The user will then be able to populate and submit the team sheets. If there are any late changes the user will have an opportunity after the game to amend the team sheets, provided such changes have been approved by the referee. The Branch will be able to track all fixtures and players, making it easier to follow up on regrading applications, transfers, objections and/or appeals, etc…

The EGM is linked to the IRFU Player Registration website. All players that are registered in a club will be available for selection. The Competitions Regulations will be updated and regulations will be adopted governing age limits, when teams can be selected and submitted, and the timeframe that will be available after the game to make approved alterations, etc…

The introduction of the EGM will require a commitment from all clubs and it is vital that all users are properly educated on the workings of the system. Workshops will be organised throughout the province prior to the start of the season to which all clubs will be expected to send their personnel that will be users on the system.
