Last week there was huge excitement amongst the panel of approximately 40 children at the De la Salle Palmerston Under-12 training when former Leinster and Ireland legend Denis Hickie paid a visit and took the team training session at Kirwan Park…
The training session was organised by Joe Dalton and was hugely entertaining with lots of great drills that everyone really enjoyed and that Denis even took part in himself!
Throughout the session the players listened to every word he said and that night there surely was only one thought as they dreamed of following in Hickie’s footsteps and playing for Leinster and Ireland when they got older!
Once the session finished, he proved what a true gent he was as word had spread around the 16 acre site that he was there. Children (of all ages!) came from everywhere as Denis happily posed for photos with everyone and signed every autograph.
One thing is for sure, these kids will never forget the night a Leinster legend took them training. Thanks Denis!
