The Irish Rugby Football Union is looking to appoint a Fitness Coach to work with the sub-academy players within the Leinster Branch. This is an exciting and challenging position which will play a critical role in on-going development of the fitness of players within the Province.
Reporting to the IRFU Fitness Education Manager and Leinster Academy Manager, the main duties of the role are:
• Providing specialist support in the area of physical conditioning to age grade and nominated development players;
• Implementing the IRFU national fitness programme;
• Developing an excellent working relationship with schools and youths coaches.
The successful applicant will have:
• Completed the IRFU Certified Conditioning Coach Course.
• A recognised qualification (degree / diploma) in the area of physical education, sports science or human movement.
• Previous relevant coaching experience with team players in the area of strength, power training and development.
• Excellent organisation, communication and coaching skills.

Elite Player Development Officer – Forwards Specialist, Leinster…
The IRFU are currently accepting applications for the position of Elite Player Development Officer (EPDO) Forwards Specialist based in Leinster. With responsibility for the delivery of the National Talent Program in Leinster, the EPDO plays a key role in ensuring vibrant development programs exist through which elite players are identified for Leinster and Ireland.
Reporting to the Leinster Academy Manager, the successful applicant will be required to fulfil the following main duties:
• Manage and operate the elite player development programmes in the province as directed by the Academy Manager and IRFU High Performance Manager.
• Deliver technical sessions to elite squads/players in the province.
• Assist with coaching courses and player clinics.
• Supervise and manage the Regional Development Squads.
The successful applicant will have:
• Excellent understanding of the game of rugby and in particular forward play;
• Excellent ability to deliver collective/reduced coaching sessions to 16 – 20 year olds;
• Excellent communication, organisational and teamwork skills;
• Five years experience coaching/playing at an elite level and a Level 2 coaching qualification or equivalent are highly desirable.
