Leinster U18 Schools were victorious over the Leinster U18 Clubs as they won 28-12 in yesterday’s interprovincial friendly in Clongowes Wood S.J…

Both sides looked to exploit the near perfect conditions for running rugby, with Schools out-half Conor Dean involving his outside backs from the outset.  Early pressure brought about a penalty which the out-half duly converted.  A try by Alan Tynan and another well-taken effort from Captain Tim Carroll brought the half-time score to 13-0 in favour of the Schools team.

The clubs hit back with some fine attacking play just after the break with a try by Conor Farrell converted by Ciaran Frawley, bringing the score to 13-7.  The Schools team responded with another try by Tim Carroll, converted by replacement centre Conor Jennings.  Jennings himself added the next try, but he was unable to convert from a difficult angle.

As replacements came on for both sides, the Clubs scored a try from Joe Carley after some good approach work. Conor Jennings added a long range penalty for the Schools team in the last few minutes of the game.

The final score was 28-12 to the Schools team, with both teams having benefitted from the game in preparation for their respective upcoming Interprovincial Championships in September.
