The Leinster Schools (Under-18) team, sponsored by BNY Mellon, defeated Munster 20-10 in Musgrave Park on Wednesday afternoon to seal the interprovincial title…

Leinster got off to a blistering start and a 10th minute Steve Crosbie penalty laid the foundations for a charge later on in the half which culminated in Blackrock centre Conor McEllin’s 28th minute try, converted by St. Gerard’s out-half Crosbie.

Credit to Munster who rallied immediately and a 31st minute penalty through out-half Darragh McNamara reduced the deficit before he struck with a try of his own, which he also converted in injury time, to level the scores at half-time, 10-10.

Leinster played with the wind in the second half and a Crosbie penalty on 55 minutes helped the visitors regain the lead, before replacement back-row, Castleknock’s Jack O’Neill, capitalised on an excellent bit of forward play to cross the line after 68 minutes. Crosbie’s difficult conversion was slotted home and Leinster celebrated the milestone 100 years of this fixture in style with a ten-point margin of victory.
