With the launch of Leinster Rugby’s online coaching video resources, Fingal CRO Gerry McLeery and Malahide CCRO Brendan Carpenter spent Tuesday evening showing a presentation and practical application of the resources to Malahide RFC’s mini coaches…

The first online videos were to aid coaches in the movement of players in general play and by presenting these to the coaches and showing them the application of the content on the pitch the Leinster rugby representatives was the best practise to launch the resources.

A quick indoor presentation started off the evening and in order to show the coaches how to apply the resources to on field coaching Gerry McLeery and Brendan Carpenter moved the presentation out to the pitch to use Malahide RFC’s Under 12’s as their guinea pigs.

The Under 12’s were coached through different general movement games and the coaches were asked to identify any problems they saw in the games and then asked how to correct those problems through certain drills and then implement them back into the games.

Malahide CCRO Brendan Carpenter added: “Another great turnout from the mini section of Malahide RFC to aid us in the launch of these brilliant new coaching resources from Leinster Rugby. It’s very important that we help in the development of our mini and youth coaches and by offering them the extra resources following their participation on coaching courses I think we are doing this. I hope the coaches got a lot out of the session and can bring the content back to their respective squads.”
