Last week over 140 first year students from Mount Temple Comprehensive took part in an inter-class Tag Rugby blitz…
This was the culmination of a six week program being run in the school with the first years in their PE classes. The students learned a variety of rugby skills over the course of the term. Each form class enters two teams (1 girl and 1 boy) with every side playing five matches.
The cold weather did not curb the enthusiasm of the students, with each group having team colours and some going as far as war painted faces. The blitz was a very successful and fun afternoon with some fantastic tries and excellent rugby, definitely some Leinster stars for the future on show.
Gareth Borland, P.E. teacher added; ‘Tag rugby is a great way to introduce the basic skills of rugby to students of all abilities’.
Clontarf CCRO Stephen Maher would like to thank the students and PE department at the school for all there help and enthusiasm with the Tag Rugby program.
If any other schools in and around the Clontarf area would like to participate in the Tag Rugby programme please contact Stephen Maher on 0861994569 or email ClontarfCCRO@leinsterrugby.ie.
