A Cian Kelleher hat-trick inspired Leinster to a 50-10 win over Edinburgh Rugby in the Guinness PRO14 on Monday night.

Returning to the RDS Arena after two weeks on the road, Leinster started strongly and duly broke the deadlock through a Dave Kearney try in the 12th minute.

The winger then turned provider for the second, linking nicely with scrum half Luke McGrath at the end of the first quarter.

Dan Leavy, making his first start in 20 months, was denied a try by the TMO before Peter Dooley drove over for Leinster’s third.

McGrath nipped in for his second, and the bonus point, on the stroke of half-time thanks to a clever offload from Ciarán Frawley.

The score did arrive for Leavy within two minutes of the restart followed very quickly by Kelleher’s first.

Just five minutes later, Kelleher had a second after a wonderful cross field kick from Harry Byrne was met at it’s lowest point by the winger.

And it was three before the end as Leinster outnumbered Edinburgh on the right, Kelleher’s final effort cancelling out Nic Groom’s consolation for the Scottish capital club.
