Malahide RFC recently hosted the successful Spencer Cup Pennant in a competition involving CYM, Emerald Warriors, Guinness and Unidare played in Blitz format…

The final, which was played between CYM and Guinness for the John Maddan Cup, was a tightly fought game with strong defences on both sides keeping the final score down to 7-0 in Guinness’ favour.

This is a new cup presented by the Maddan family in memory of John, who served the Leinster Branch with great fervour, particularly in the Youths and, his great love, the Leinster Juniors.

John Maddan was a great servant of Malahide RFC and the Metropolitan Area are deeply appreciative of the opportunity to remember John in the awarding of his cup to the annual winners of the Pennant.

Many thanks to Malahide for their facilities, to Leinster Branch, and the A.R.L.B. for the fine referees. To coordinator Des Dillon, thank you.
