Centre James Reynolds kicked the 55th minute penalty that took CBC Monkstown to the Bank of Ireland Fr Godfrey Cup final against Wesley and into the Leinster Junior Cup first round tie with Castleknock next Thursday.
There was nothing to separate these two sides, as evidenced by the 3-all deadlock at the interval with Reynolds and full-back Andrew Vincent swapping penalties.
The Booterstown school moved ahead with a 36th minute try by prop Toby McVeigh, converted by Vincent, only for CBC replacement wing Dean O’Higgins to strike back to set up a torrid finish in which Reynolds held his nerve.
